Royal Ascot Day 1 Queen Anne Stakes 1 Mile 9.30 AM AWT
Race 1 – 9/5/2/15/1/8
9. Mustashry returned a PB in the G1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury and has the runners behind him from that clash covered. 5. Hazapour is the only Weld runner for the week and his last start win at the Curragh was controlled from the front. 2. Barney Roy was super in France and that form tends to hold up at Royal Ascot. 15. Laurens is a class mare who was 2nd in the Lockinge and will be better again here. 1.Accidental Agent won this race last year and was making ground in the Locking whilst 8. Matterhorn is up in class but racing well and can go into the wider novelties.
Lay – 6. Le Brevido Under the odds.
Coventry Stakes 6 f 10.05 AM AWST
Race 2 – 1/16/5/2/15/11
1.Arizona looks world class on his 2nd up win 6f at the Curragh. The draw is the only worry as most of the speed has drawn high. 16. Threat was strong from the front at Newmarket and will improve off that run. 5. Guildsman was a big winner at Goodwood and ran time. 2. Coase has abundant speed and has drawn the right side from a clever yard. 15 and 11 go into the wider novelty bets.
Watch the pattern and it could be back 1 and save the 16.
Kings Stands Stakes 5 f 10.40 AM AWT
Race 3 – (2/1) 8,9,12
2. Blue Point has won his past 3 races at Meydan and comes back into this race which he won last season in better form than last. He has drawn the low side which could be the big issue. 1. Battash has had the second wind operation and appears to be at least 6lb better than last season through Mabs Call from the Temple Stakes at Haydock. Has the right draw and will take the catching? 8. Mabs Call will be right there again after finishing 3rd in this race last season. 9.Segei Prokoviev was given no chance at Newmarket and hit the line hard. Loves Ascot as does 12. Signora Cabello who will have to lead Blue Point on the low side.
Again, watch the pattern and maybe the bigger bet is Bataash with the saver Blue Point.
St James Palace Stakes 7f 212 YD 11.20 AM AWT
Race 4 5/10/2/7/8
5. Phoenix Of Spain had 3 lengths on Too Darn Hot at The Curragh in the Irish 2000 Guineas and its hard to see the turn around here. 10. Too Darn Hot will make his presence felt and will improve every run after a poor start to his campaign. 2. Circus Maximus drops back from the Derby and will give them something to chase for a long way. 7. Shaman has good French form but looks weld held as does Skardu who didn’t match his 2000 Guineas run in the Irish equivalent.
Backing Phoenix Of Spain outright.
Race 5 – handicap no bet.
Wolverton Stakes Listed 1m2f 12.35 AM AEST
Race 6 -2/6/13/10/16/12
2.Elarqam backed up a solid effort 4th in a super form race from Newmarket with a slashing win at Goodwood. Looks to be peaking for this. 6. First Nation got to ½ length of Elarqam at Newmarket and has a 3 lb pull. 13. Willie John has too find 1.5 lengths after finishing 3rd at Goodwood to the selection. 10. Oasis Charm has the Meydan form which is always questionable. 16. Magic Wand won the Ribbelsdale CD last year but has been below par. 12 Star Of Bengal rough for novelties.
Best Bets EW R1 Mustashry $5
